Lazlo Weed started about two years ago intending to do something really unique—to create something that feels a bit like watching a blues band in a deep-south juke joint in the 50s or 60s. Much of that direction remains, but the band has evolved into something a bit more “amped up” to fit a slightly more modern sensibility–something like John Lee Hooker fronting the Stones.
You can find several of the band’s original songs on Spotify and YouTube etc. In mid August, they will be recording their next EP at Sun Studios in Memphis.
Jim Hillan is a multi instrumentalist and he joins the band on drums. He has played with Bill Pinkney and the original Drifters, Scott Lane (original guitar player for Stryper), and Tommy Tutone. He has played almost every large festival in the area within the last 25 years, including opening for Confederate Railroad and Mindy McCready. He’s always tasty and in the pocket.
Luke Blum plays really cool, unique bass lines. He’s always right on the money. He's been playing around the area for more than a decade.
Dave DeRoos has just joined the band on lead guitar--great dude, great player.
John Norland fronts the band, playing rhythm guitar and singing lead. He's a prolific songwriter, and you will hear some of his tunes at every performance.
